Cabinet Replacement for Kitchens That Need More Than New Doors

New cabinets make sense when the boxes are damaged, the sizes limit storage, or the kitchen needs a different layout. We evaluate those conditions before proposing a tear-out.

The decision

When should cabinets be replaced?

Refacing is a strong option for sound, square cabinets in a layout you like. Replacement earns its cost when the structure, dimensions or room plan need to change. We start with the cabinet interiors, sink base, wall attachments and clearance around appliances instead of judging only the door style.

For a smaller change, compare cabinet refacing with a full kitchen remodel before choosing a scope.

What We Work Through Together

Condition before cosmetics

Water-swollen sink bases, failing side panels, loose wall units and out-of-square boxes can make new doors a poor investment. The condition of the existing structure determines what can responsibly stay. A damaged section may be replaced while sound units remain, if the finishes can be coordinated.

Design for useful storage

A cabinet plan should account for the things you actually store: wide pans, small appliances, trash, pantry goods and everyday dishes. We review drawer depth, corner access, working heights and appliance openings before ordering a cabinet run.

Plan the surrounding work

New cabinet footprints affect countertops, backsplash, flooring, trim, plumbing and electrical locations. If the layout changes, that work belongs in the scope from the start. A written plan identifies what stays and what is replaced so there are fewer surprises once the old cabinets are removed.

Before the walkthrough

A Useful Starting List

  • Photograph the sink base and any swollen or soft cabinet parts.
  • List the storage you lack and the appliances that will remain.
  • Mark door swings and places where two people cannot pass comfortably.
  • Decide which surfaces should be included in the same project.
